Schon immer hatte Moktar geschworen, dass er nach Burkina Faso zurückkehrt, sobald seine Bar schließt. Aber als der Tag der Entscheidung vor der Tür steht, zögert er. Da besuchen ihn seine Geister, um ein letztes Mal mit ihm zu feiern…
Fabien Dao wurde in Paris als Sohn einer französischen Lehrerin und eines Filmemachers aus Burkina Faso geboren. Nach einem naturwissenschaftlichen Studium führte ihn seine Leidenschaft für Musik und Kino zu einem Studium an der Tonabteilung der École nationale supérieure des métiers de l’image et du son in Paris. Dort führte er Regie bei „The Boromo’s Caïman“. Im Jahr 2017 drehte er „It Rains on Ouaga“ und 2019 schloss er mit „Bablinga“ die Trilogie über seinen Vater ab.

Diese mitreißende Kurzdokumentation begleitet ein sudanesisches Ju-Jutsu Team bei seiner Reise mit einem Mini-Van von Khartum nach Nairobi, um dort – getragen vom Geiste der sudanesischen Revolution – an einem Wettkampf teilzunehmen.
Ibrahim Ahmad ist ein international preisgekrönter junger sudanesischer Filmemacher. Geboren und aufgewachsen im Libanon, migrierte er nach dem Krieg 2006 als Teenager in den Sudan. Obwohl es in seinem Heimatland keine Filmschule gab, entdeckte er seine Leidenschaft für eine Karriere als Filmemacher. Obgleich Autodidakt, baute er ein umfassendes Netzwerk mit Filmemacherkolleg*innen und Festivalprogrammierer*innen in nationalen und internationalen Organisationen auf. Sein Dokumentarfilm „Khartoum Offside“ wurde mit dem African Movie Academy Award als bester Dokumentarfilm ausgezeichnet. „You Will Die at 20“ erhielt beim Filmfestival von Venedig 2020 den „Golden Lion of the future“ und gilt als der erste sudanesische Spielfilm seit über einem Jahrzehnt, der in Europa, dem Nahen Osten und Afrika gezeigt wurde.
Während der jüngsten sudanesischen Revolution spielte Ahmad eine führende Rolle bei der Dokumentation und Aufarbeitung der Grausamkeiten und Verbrechen des alten Regimes, um einen Beitrag zur Gerechtigkeit und zur Gestaltung der neuen Ära seines Landes zu leisten.

In Anwesenheit von Mohamed Kheidr – Q+A
Tuk-tuk erzählt die Geschichte von Walaa, die gezwungen ist, allein für den Unterhalt ihrer Familie aufzukommen, nachdem ihr Mann sie verlassen hat, um auszuwandern. Um ihre Kinder durch die Schule zu bringen und die Medikamente ihrer Mutter zu bezahlen, setzt sich Walaa ans Steuer und fährt ein Tuk-tuk, um über die Runden zu kommen. Für die Miete musste sie jedoch eine Reihe von Schuldscheinen unterschreiben und sich verpflichten, das Geld in Raten zurückzuzahlen. Der Film beleuchtet die Schwierigkeiten von Frauen, wenn sie Rollen übernehmen, die traditionell von Männern besetzt sind und wirft ein Schlaglicht auf das Problem von ägyptischen Schuldnerinnen, die ins Gefängnis kommen, weil sie geliehenes Geld nicht zurückzahlen können.
Mohamed Kheidr begann seine Karriere als Künstler bereits im jungen Alter von 14 Jahren mit der Erstellung von Storyboards und studierte anschließend Grafikdesign, um dann doch 2007 in New York an die Film Academy zu gehen.
In seinem künstlerischen Schaffen verfolgt er das Ziel, die Sichtweise der Branche auf Produktionen mit begrenztem Budget durch die Schaffung erstklassiger Grafiken und Designs zu verändern. Er gründete sein eigenes Produktionshaus, in dem er eine Vielzahl von Projekten realisierte – als Regisseur, Kameramann, Drehbuchautor, Producer, Fotograf und Musiker.

Moktar had always sworn that he would return to Burkina Faso as soon as his bar closed. But as the day of decision approaches, he hesitates. That’s when his spirits visit him to celebrate with him one last time….
Fabien Dao was born in Paris to a French teacher and a filmmaker from Burkina Faso. After studying natural sciences, his passion for music and cinema led him to study at the sound department of the École nationale supérieure des métiers de l’image et du son in Paris. There, he directed „The Boromo’s Caïman.“ In 2017, he shot „It Rains on Ouaga“ and in 2019 he completed the trilogy about his father with „Bablinga.“

This stirring short documentary follows a Sudanese Ju-Jutsu team as they travel in a mini-van from Khartoum to Nairobi to compete in a competition, buoyed by the spirit of the Sudanese revolution.
Ibrahim Ahmad is an international award-winning young Sudanese filmmaker. Born and raised in Lebanon, he migrated to Sudan as a teenager after the 2006 war. Although there
no film school in his home country, he discovered his passion for a career as a filmmaker. Although self-taught, he built an extensive network with fellow filmmakers and festival programmers. The film „You Will Die at 20“ received the „Golden Lion of the future“ at the 2020 Venice Film Festival and is considered the first Sudanese feature film in over a decade to be screened in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
During the recent Sudanese revolution, Ahmad played a leading role in documenting and addressing the atrocities and crimes of the old regime to help bring justice and shape his country’s new era.

In the presence of Mohamed Kheidr – Q+A
Tuk-tuk tells the story of Walaa, who is forced to support her family alone after her husband leaves her to emigrate. To put her children through school and pay for her mother’s medicines, Walaa gets behind the wheel and drives a tuk-tuk.
To pay the rent, however, she had to sign a series of promissory bills and agree to repay the money in installments. The film highlights the difficulties of women taking on traditional male roles and sheds light on the problem of Egyptian female debtors who are jailed for failing to repay borrowed money.
Mohamed Kheidr began his career as an artist at the young age of 14 by creating storyboards and went on to study graphic design, only to attend the Film Academy in New York in 2007.
In his artistry, his goal is to change the way the industry looks at productions with limited budgets by creating top-notch graphics and designs. He founded his own production house where he realized a variety of projects – as director, cinematographer, screenwriter, producer, photographer and musician.
