Mobiltelefone auf dem Weg durch drei Kontinente

Seit 2013 recherchieren der Kurator und Urbanist Jochen Becker und der Filmemacher und Regisseur Daniel Kötter zu den kulturellen Effekten der ökonomischen und politischen Beziehungen zwischen China und dem afrikanischen Kontinent.
Von der Geburt in den Minen im kongolesischen Kolwezi über die Herstellung in chinesischen Fabriken im Perflußdelta bis zum Gebrauch und Tod auf den Märkten und Recycling-Halden in Lagos schickt die Handy-Kamera Bilder der Handels- und Gebrauchswege seiner eigenen Herstellung auf das Mobiltelefon-Display der Besucher. Gefilmt wurde von Minenarbeiter*innen, Fabrikangestellten, Händler*innen und Elektroschrott-Sammler*innen an den Originalschauplätzen im Kongo, in China und Nigeria. Der Dokumentarfilm von Daniel Kötter zeigt die Arbeit an dem Gerät, das unseren Alltag prägt.

Cell phones on their way through three continents

Since 2013, curator and urbanist Jochen Becker and filmmaker and director Daniel Kötter have been researching the cultural effects of economic and political relations between China and the African continent.
From birth in the mines in Kolwezi, Congolese, to production in Chinese factories in the Pearl River Delta, to use and death in the markets and recycling dumps in Lagos, the cell phone camera sends images of the trade and use of its own production to the cell phone display of visitors. It was filmed by mine workers, factory workers, traders and electronic waste collectors at the original locations in Congo, China and Nigeria. The documentary film by Daniel Kötter shows the work on the device that shapes our everyday life.
